Research Summaries
Here you can find out more about what 5G is, and our research in Network Slicing and Digital Twin technology.
5G is the 5th generation mobile network. Compared to 4G, there is much more capacity and capability for more users with much more complex needs. The challenge for this research team is working out how to design the network to handle all these different users.
This research aims to improve the way that information is sent around the future 5G network, either by sharing out network resources better to clusters of users (in Network Slicing) or by designing a complex model of the network at a larger scale, to better understand and improve how the network behaves as a whole (in Digital Twin technology).
Network Slicing
Dividing up the network to handle complex and changeable user requirements
Network Digital Twin
Making a virtual replica of the network
